About This Project:

Hikari means "light" in Japanese, and it names our hope for the parents of West Los Angeles United Methodist Church: brightness, clarity, and hope. Rooted in the Sawtelle Japantown community and our credo, kodomo no tame ni, "for the sake of the children," this three-month pilot gathers parents monthly to practice the SACRED framework and compassion. We offer childcare and a shared meal so parents can focus on their own spiritual growth and build a circle of support.

"Kodomo no tame ni," for the sake of the children.
